Hi Martin, It's a RCA Columbia pictures tape, say's stereo beta Hi-Fi on it, it's odd as other tapes i am recording have audio with them.

SLHF= 950 when loading a video tape, the sled goes in, and then after a second or two the tape is ejected and sled comes back out

Mathew, are the tapes all recorded with HiFi audio? Could the quiet tapes perhaps be linear stereo recordings?

Hey, I have a Sony SL-HF100EC machine, i have a weird issue where some tapes play with audio and some no audio, picture quality is very good on the tapes, not sure what the issue could be thank you.

The chatpage hopefully now remembers your registration details better (if selected) so you don't have to keep re-registering for each post.

Hi Tom, I'm assuming you mean for playback onto a digital TV? If your TV has a scart connector or AV connectors, you can just use a suitable cable. If it only supports HDMI, you will need an "AV to HDMI" converter box (very cheap on something like eBay), these take 3 RCA connectors inputs. On the back of the VTC-M10, you can get a small converter for the video out connector to change from a BNC to an RCA connector.

Been a while since i've posted here but glad the site is still helping out those who still use or have queries about Beta.....

Anyways it's my turn to ask for help.

I have two Sony SLHF950 's with the same issue on the AF14 Beta Hi-Fi board in that it won't playback the beta Hi-FI and does'nt revert to mono on the recordings made on mono machines, when switched to 'Auto'.The Hi-Fi heads are fine.

I have looked on the technical page and it just states,'No beta Hi-Fi ,change the transistor as necessary'.No mention of which one(s) may be the culprit.There are 75 on that board!

Also i have two 950 's that have started to show (one on one channel only, the other on both).Whereby the Audio VU level meter keeps going straight to the end (lighting up all the LED's) and not responding correctly to the sound level, even at lower record level settings.Anyone come across this?

Any help or assistance would be very much appreciated.

I was directed to this website via a Google search. I represent a number of Actors here in

California over the last 30 yrs. One of my clients is the late Actress, Cindy Williams, who

played "Shirley" from the hit T.V. show LaVerne & Shirley. Her Son has been going over her

stored memorabilia which is quite extensive for a 50 year plus career! He called me yesterday

to tell me he's found a number of boxes that have LaVerne & Shirley episodes on "Beta" &

possibly "3/4 inch" tape. He's going to start going through them today to see if this is the case.

Obviously there taking up a lot of space & would like to empty the storage unit. My question "is

there collectors out there that collect T.V. that shows on that format? " Or is there someone

out there that can point me in the right direction?

Any help would be appreciated!

Hi guys i am restoring a sony sl-c7ub and i and looking for a new audio control head or if possible a working one as the one i have has very poor ctl very worn with groves and picture keeps dropping out there is some on ebay very over priced thanks

Buenas tardes compaeros, he adquirido un video Sony Sl-C6 con muchos problemas, el carro la cinta entraba muy lenta no dndole tiempo a completar el proceso, lo he solucionado quitando el exceso de grasa seca, he cambiado correas he limpiado gomas adosadas a sus poleas, ya que de momento no he encontrado repuesto, no me funciona el test de seal, ahora funciona bien en play aunque no visualizo la imagen pero hace bien el rebobinado, pero curiosamente al darle a bobinado rpido hacia adelante lo hace hacia atrs.

A ver si alguno de ustedes me puede echar una mano,gracias.

We have a Toshiba Betamax that was sold to us as the 'top end of the range, far superior to VHS' (I agree). However, it has been sitting out in my garage for years waiting for someone to rescue it. If anyone is in the Hampshire area and would like it, I am happy to send it on its way to a new home where it will be resuscitated. Preferably collection - I don't fancy the postage charges!

My Sony SL-HF100AS is playing tapes great with hifi sound but when I power it up sometimes I can hear a crackling noise coming from the right channel and can see the VU meter moving too.

It comes and goes. with no tape inserted and during playback.

Any ideas where to check?

Betamax SL-C9UB. I have recently purchased this model from an auction, excited at the thought of playing old videos. But can anyone advise me where I can get a manual to help me set it up. And what leads I need to do this. Please any info in girltalk!!

Hi I recently acquired a Sony SL-C5 UB player. Everything works fine for the most part except when it comes to rewinding a tape. Most of the time it doesn't rewind the tape and it just stays still. However the player still makes the rewinding noise. The player does sometimes rewind the tapes but it's very slow when it does so. I was wondering if anyone can help me further with this matter as I don't want to chuck the player out as I have a feeling there's life still left in it. I don't know much about the inner workings of Betamax machines but I suspect the problem is a worn out belt. If anyone could tell me how to safely replace the belt or can put me in contact with someone who could do it for me that would be greatly appreciated. I think the machine would benefit from a clean as well.

From personal experience I can wholeheartedly recommend Mr Betabyte for repair and servicing. He serviced one of my Beta vcrs in 2023 and did a great job. Just make sure you pack the vcr very well for posting as couriers/Royal Mail aren't too careful with these objects.

I am looking for a Betamax repair and servicing specialist for SL-F1 portables in the UK. I see Mr Betabyte and others have many youtube posts. Can anyone recommend a good contact? I had bad experiences in 80s of companies charging high prices and wrecking machines. Many thanks, any help gratefully appreciated.
