Hello every one! I have a small problem.Telcom Research T6010 LTC SMPTE Reader Insert.

I just bought and hooked up a Telcom Research T6010 LTC SMPTE Reader Insertto a BVU820 3/4 deck with Timecode. The 3/4 Timecode output is connected to the Telcom's Timecode input. When I play a tape with Timecode the Telcom TC reader won't read the code off the tape. It only reads it when the deck is in fast-forward or rewind! I've tried generating code from my MIDI interface to the Telcom reader, and it reads the Timecode with no problems! I've tried different cables, I made sure the deck is sending out code...my audio gear locks-up with it immediately! The 3/4 deck Timecode connectors is RCA. I see that the connectors on the Telcom are XLR. I have an adapter which I've tried, but I still get the same problem. I've also checked out the URL link http://www.timecode.com/t6010.html & downloaded the PDF manual, but it was little help.I do think the Telcom Timecode reader works because it read code from my MIDI interface, but I'm wondering if anyone know's of any solutions for this problem. If anyone know's of Telcom's web sight or a number or email where I can contact them, I would deeply appreciate it.

Thank you.....LSD

Hi Mike,

better late than never here a delayed responce. I don't think it is a analogue/digital issue. I don't know the NV-MS4B camera. I do know the WJ-AVE5 and the BVU-800. If the camera is a one CCD/tube camera you can get much improvement by using a two or three CCD/tube camera (and lighting is very important). It also would be much better if you can leave out the WJ-AVE5.

Old professional/broadcast equipment is still better than most modern consumer/prosumer equipment. And going digital only will improve your end result if you can spend a lot of money. If you want to produce something serious on video don't use consumer or even prosumer equipment! I started on HI-8 consumer equipment and I still wished that I had spend that money on old professional/broadcast equipment. So go for (lets say 10 or 15 year old, because it is affordable) professional or even better broadcast equipment. The BVU800 is a good start.

I have(being shipped to me) a dxc -3000 and a u-matic recorder. Since the person getitng rid of it was willing to just give it to me(I only payed the cost of shipping) I took it without knowing much about it. Does anyone know what kind of resolution it gives? I'm about to tell my video production partner (a man who treats mindv like the second coming) about it, and would like that data to give him.I'm already braced for all hsi pro dv arguments, but any other information to help sell him on it for our next production would be good.

I've managed to find most of the info I need on the dxc-300; however, I'm hoping to find an adapter for the many slr lenses I have. What kind of mount does this camera have? C-mount 1/2 inch? What kind of adapter would I need? Obviously I know what slr lenses I have(mostly the old screw mounts) but what do I need to adapt to?

CAMERA FAULT.Before anyone shouts at me, I know I shouldn't be posting this here but I don't know of any other site with as many technically minded contributers. I have an old SONY CCD_V200E Video8 Pro camcorder. Its just developed a fault were there is a green and maroon verticle band on the left hand edge.( obviously more noticeable with the lens cap on. If I rotate the camera 360 degrees the band on the monitor and the viewfinder stays put. does that mean the fault lies in the amplification stage and not the CCD ?. Just need to know because if it needs to go for repair I don't want to get ripped off. Other than that picture still absolutely perfect for a standard video 8. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I can email someone a screen grab if it would help.

Thank you all ion anticipation.

I have a sony vo-4800 that requires a power supply. I'm not interested in battery power, but would rather use the 12v dc input instead. My question is this: What type of conncetor do I need? It appears as though it is a 4 pin din conncetor, but the pins/slots are all at odd angle to each other. I am completly unfamiliar with it. It is possible that it's not a 4 pin din connector, but then what the heck is it? Any help would be greatly appreaciated.

I have a Sony VO2630 U-Matic. All functioning, motors, winds, sound etc, except no picture -though it came back for about 30 minutes last time I tried it, after standing for many months, the went again!.FREE...... to anyone who wants to repair it or use it for spares. However as anyone who has experience with the old top loaders knows, this is VERY HEAVY, even compared to later U-matics. So it would have to be someone who would have it delivered by myself (see below) can collect, or have it shipped at presumably quite a cost.I am in Lancaster, England, and do travel quite extensively on business however, so provided you don't live too far out of the way, or cann meet me somewhere sensible, I could deliver. Having fondly used it for many years I wouldlike to see it go to a good home having now been replaced by a VO5630 and VO5030!.

HiI ve a problem with my gml merlyn mixer: when i do transitions from a-to-b everything is correct, but when i do them from b-to-a, i ve awful green lines and spots on the screen. those lines and spots are AWAY at the end of the transition (ok ... and also at start time). hmmmmm?!?!?!?!?? anyone knows what that could mean (apart that there must be something broken in the gml ......)? there seem to be no loose connectors, fallen-out ics or broken boards. so there comes the second question: anyone who has spare parts?regardskai hoffmann

Hi I'm hoping someone out there might be able to help me. I have an encoder with an VLan serial remote that I connect to my digibeta player. I have just got a Sony VO-5630 Umatic and I want to control it from the encoder via the Vlan serial remote. The only trouble is that the Umatic's remote is not serial (I'm not sure what the conector is called), I'm wondering if anyone knows if there is a converter from the Umatic remote to the VLan remote or if there is any other way of doing it?

If anyone can help it would be great,Thanks [email protected]

Hi Folks,

Just got a couple of DXC-325's with composite backs. I currently have a lowband edit suite with TBC which I was thinking of replacing with a BVU 950 and some other bits. I know that an EVV 9000 will dock with a 325 but did they do a Betacam back ?, although a beta edit deck would be way out of my price range. (don't think the docking plug is the same as BVP type ?) Also has anyone had any experience with the EVV 9000, what is the second generation copy like. Should I look for a BVU 150 instead ?Someone even suggested using a DV walkman instead like the GV-D200. Any observations would be appreciated.

With regard to JR's problem with the power plug on a Sony VO-4800; it is a Din plug but there are so many variations of these (and they are poor things too)that I'd be inclined to use the socket in the battery compartment which is a standard 3mm power plug. You probably couldn't get any (NP90) batteries for these anyway; I use a lead acid battery pack which plugs into this socket.

I guess if anybody here knows where can I repair that device?? I'm so sorry for having to put it to trash...Please you could email any idea. Thanks in advance. Toni.-

Hello! I'm a proud owner of a VP-5000. On some tapes it looks like there's severe head wear (especially Ampex [around white text there's lines and stuff]), but on all the others it's just fine. I don't suspect the heads because it is a deck from the Navy and recently got new heads. LOL! I also didn't know that the front panel flipped upwards! Why didn't anyone tell me! LOL.

I have a VO-5850 thatwill record and play it's own tapes fairly well (some distortion) but tapes recorded in it will not play in my VO-5600 or VO-8800 at all. Tapes recorded on the 5600/8800 play on the 5850, but with 5-6 horizontal bars of distortion... any thoughts?

thanks.

I have a like new Sony 4800 and two JVC AA-P44U's with instruction manual. The Sony and one JVC has the RF unit. Location is Arizona, USA. Is there anyone in this austere chat room that may be interested in purchasing these units? I would also possibly be interested in procuring new condition blank tapes for the JVCs because they have a 10 pin camera input.

I was surfing Ebay one time and came across a U-Matic VCR with a tuner and timer in it. This model is a JVC CR-6300U dated 1976. It features a VHF/UHF rotary tuners and a cooker clock timer similar to the ones used on the Philips VCR, National Colour Cartridge VCRs and a few other early VCR formats. I've downloaded the pic of this VCR and put it on my website so here's a direct link to the JVC CR-6300U pic http://web.1earth.net/~funkydud/u-matic%20cr6300u.JPG . Anyhow I have a few questions.

Was this model of U-Matic available on the consumer market in the 1970's seeing it has a tuner and a timer?

How popular was this model of U-Matic, and was this model available in Australia?

Were there any other models of U-Matic made with UHF/VHF tuner and clock timer?

Reason I ask is because this is the first time I've seen a U-Matic with a tuner and timer, all the other ones I've seen don't have them because the U-Matic is obviously used mostly for professional applications.

Cheers

Troy

I may as well give you's my web home page it's at http://web.1earth.net/~funkydud/index.html and my website's called "Search for long lost Countdown episodes from the 1970's" which is about getting old deleted episodes of the Australian pop show "Countdown" on early formats of domestic and professional videotape.

Hi guys, I'm looking for a manual on a Sony VO-9850P recorder. I have been given the task of working out how to connect up this recorder to a SGI Personal Iris, a Lyon Lamb MINIVAS controller, and a PAL genlock encoder 606P. Unfortunatly there is little documentation on these devices, and even less on how they used to be connected (they were all connected and working, but no-one is left who remembers how). If anyone has information on these devices I would be grateful for a clue.

Regards John Syer
