CAN ANYONE HELP?I have a really weird problem with my 2 U-matic decks a VO5800 and a VO5600. First the VO5800 stopped recording sound or rather it records very faintly and muffled. It was doing this intermitantly at first now it is all the time. While I'm recording it seems fine, (I can hear the sound on the monitor and the gauges show a good level of sound) but when I go to play it back I get almost no sound. Previously recorded tapes play back fine. The wierd part is that I gave up on the deck and deceided to use My back-up deck, ( the VO5600) and it is doing the same thing! Is this the strangest coincidence or I am missing something? I have tried several different tapes in each machine, have cleaned the audio heads and replaced the pinch roller. Have you ever heard of this problem? It's driven me just about bats. I don't really know anything about repairing video decks but there is nobody around here who repairs pro decks . Hi friends,I just purchased a Sony BVU950 to use in my audio post facility.I'm only using it to chase to picture since I edit in ProTools and my clients lay back audio in the AVID suites. I've been having problems keeping protools synched to the machine. I send it 9pin serial control without problem, I see time code, I'm resolved to blackburst, correct frame rate, and I'm always ahead by 3 frames.am I missing something?. I do not have a manual for the 950. I've searched the net for a pdf file or something but no info. (even at sonys site)I feel that the machine is not staying synched to blackburst. Any ideas?ThanksCiaoGio

Hi Jeff!About your vo-5xxx audio issues:I'm not posessing one of the mentioned ones, so don't kill if it won't help.
Dull audio I had on various linear-tape-machines due to
* cleaning (you've mentioned you've done that already - I do hope manually - and not just with a cleaning-tape !)
* put an old (redundant) tape in it - whilst open watch the tape-path (does the tape contact the head properly)- is there no tape-wrecking going on (especially on the edges ?- try to vary the tapes tension by pushing a round & smoove plastic-stick (like an even pencil) *gently* on the backside of the tape - nearby of the audio-head WHILST recording some steady audio-signal.
Rewind & listen to the material & check for fluctuations in sound-quality.
* de-magnetisation - try to de-gauss it (if you know someone with the proper equipment which will do it for free - don't waist cash on that !!)
* there've been reports on some audio-circuitry which has been knowingly prone to failing at some point of their live - present in the VO-5xxx VTRs - check the post-archive in this forum.
* Since you've got the same problem with 2 different VTRs, try to check your interconnections,recording-sources (Since you're hearing sounds while recording - you can skip that...) * Is you're Audio-Monitoring switch set to MIX ? - Try to listen to channel-1,and then 2 separately. (I don't know if the meters are moving when you're playing back your recorded material - if so - phase issue)
* Inspect the audio-heads visually, and post here how the surface looks like (any "pits", is it shiny, is it really completely even, or are there some grooves at the upper & lower ends).
* I can tell you something about some very cheap ways to check the signals present at the audio-heads, which will trace down the diagnosis to the fault-source if any of the above mentioned hints won't do !
- Wishing luck (if needed) :)
- Rein
- sorry for the delay of the Y/C<->DUB project, but we're having all the exams & big tests now at the university, so I've frozen everything to a minimun right now..
- and thanks for the bearing tips, my 9850 would need this service later (I guess), since it's basically new "out-of the box" - it came from a design-agency, they've bought it - and shortly after made their clearance (it's got <40 hours on the heads & 400 hours of operation..)
Thus it sports an excellent picture, and has a beatifully quick-responding drive (for a not direct-driven mech.)
* If anyone posessing a service-manual of a DUB-YC converter OR a TBC,VHS/S-VHS -VTR with Umatic-HB-compatible in's or out's could scan in the page containing the mentioned circuit-part - please mail me !
Thanks in advance-JanK
.. of course it's supposed to say "can be solved with" and not "due to", and"I've frozen all" and not "frozen to a minimum"..- I think I got to stop drinking that rancid milk while writing those posts..
Anybody know where I can get the manual for a Sony BVU-950 PAL 3/4" machine?
Gio,
Is there a TBC (BKU-903) in the BVU-950? If there is you can change the advanced sync setting on the TBC board. That may solve the problem.
I need manuals for VO7630, VP5040 & VP7040 U-Matics. Also I need either some special jacks for the remote controls or else four plug in infra-red receivers. Can anyone help?
Thanks
Gio,
I may have a solution to your problem if you haven't tried it already. Protools will only read MTC. (midi timecode) You may need to aquire a piece of outboard gear that will convert VITC (or whatever you are using) to MTC. I'm not an expert on this stuff. Just somethings I remembered when I was in college. Good luck.
Hi Everyone
Just got a VP-7020 from E Bay.. Used it 1 day and have a cassette stuck in machine. Machine is in Standby Mode.
Any Suggestions?

hello everybody,
is there anybody selling a "RM-580" for the vtr "VO 9600p" ?
All the best,

In revamping our church radio engineering room, we would like to transfer 300+ U-Matics tapes to DVDs. We also would like to store the information on a computer to do separate editing. What hardware/software is necessary to this?
jings CJ talk about a can of worms!!!!!!
Esentially you need a fast modern PC with one of the new DVD recorders. At this stage in the game I'd advise a shift to Mini DV or D9 as your tape format of choice. To allow Non-Linear editing you need a firewire card in the PC and an OHCI compatible editing program such as Ulead Media Studio or Adobe Premiere 6.
A wee while back I'd have advocated transferring analogue material via a suitable capture card. But these days the cheapest and best route is to dub to Mini DV and use firewire to transfer material as 'DV' files. this ensures good compatability with new and future DV material. Alternatively some DV cards can handle analogue as well or you can get a DV bridge ...essentially an A-D converter which takes analogue in and outputs firewire.
I think the who subject of Digital Video is well covered elsewhere and save for saying that Umatic survives the transfer well.......
A good playback machine with TBC is a great help!
Good luck!
Matt
Is there a way you can tell the hours on the sony 5 series machines, I have a 5800, 5850 and 5600(i think) all ntsc. Also what is the sc connector for on the backs of the units? is it an external sync like a gen-lock signal or something else and does it need to be used or can i just use my rm-440 and a regular coax video cable between the units?
thanksjordan

I just got a used BVU-950 Umatic SP to view some old 3/4 inch tapes I had made in 1980.The sad part, after viewing the tape once without any problems, the second viewing failed and I received "Error 04". Inspecting the tape I realized the damage done after the first viewing. The type of damage suggested the least costly repair: replacing the old, dried-out pinch roller.I found one for $40.00. Is anybody out there with a Service Manual who can send me the relevant pages?Any other suggestions what can be wrong or recommendations for clearing the tape path?I am working with a local church. Your help is appreciated.
Two things:-
1:- I'm looking to get hold of a Tube camera (Trinicon, Saticon, etc, all fine), for the effects. I don't know why, but there's something in me which keeps shouting "these are better quality". I guess it's just my excuse for my love of cameras with lag (if only it's the tiniest bit!)
2:- I'm looking for a service manual for a Trinicon HVC-2000PE. My friend gave me this one, and it's been totally uncalibrated. I've taken off both sides, and got an image (which actually isn't that bad, and is better than I reckon it was originally. I've got it to be low lag and high contrast. Good colour balance too), but I'm not certian it's the best it could be. Only a service manual will help me. Any ideas?

Could you please reply by e-mail?? (I know it's a lot to ask, but this chat page isn't easy to navigate. It should be made into a YahooGroup)
Friedhelm, here is instructions to change the pinch roller. There is a bracket with two screws holding in the loading carriage, take that off. Take out loading carriage. Turn machine on until loading ring spins half-way around and turn machine off. Roller is now accessable. Notice the roller has a spring under it. It is very important you put the spring back in right so take note how it grabs the end of the roller assembly on one end. Underneath the assembly is a little black post that the spring is pushing against to provide tension. On top of the assembly is a little retaining ring, take that off being careful not to lose it down in the machine. Lift up assembly carefully as the spring underneath sometimes like to, well, spring! It should be fairly easy to see how the spring pushes againts the little black post and the end of the roller assembly. You will know if you have it back in right if the assembly has a little spring action to it, if not it will not move back and forth on its own. Just lower your new roller assembly down onto the post, hooking one end of the spring around the little arm on the end of the assembly by its mounting post, and the other end of the spring against the left side of the little black post on the loading ring. It's helpful to lay the spring down first, then put the assembly on its post, then hook the other end of the spring onto the assembly. Once this is done, install the loading carriage, its bracket, and turn the machine on, the loading ring should spin around to its beginning. Hope this helps.
Hi, I just brought the Matsushita WV-555 camera and am now looking for a recording unit. I would like to record on u-matic but I cant find anything portable on any auctions or anywhere below $150. If anyone knows were I could find one or if anyone is selling one please e-mail me.
Hi all,Another unique problem here. I have a UmaticS Portable Videocassette Recorder Model # VO-4800 without a power supply. I know it is 12 volt DC but not how many milliamps it needs. I tried various 12 volt converters on it( 200, 300,500 and 700 milliamps) and I had partial success with the 500 milliamp converter. However it would not play, only rewind and FF, load and eject. The reason I think that it is a power issue is that the "battery low" light displayed every time I initiated a transport function. I would be greatful if someone could:A. Tell me the correct voltage.B. Point me to a site or email address where I can find out.C.Point me to a site or email address where I can buy one. Also, I would like to know any info I can on the batteries for this device, and where they can be obtained etc. Thanks in advance for any clues or direct info anyone might have.Sincerely, Chris Boggs
I am trying to figure out why no cables come with the Sony RM-440 editors that are up for bid on E-Bay. I have seen about 20-25 editors but none come with cables. And I don't see them up for bid seperately. I need a 440 but obviously I need cables just as bad. Anyone have any ideas. I just found this chat room today. Thanks
Hi Chris. You won't be winning any prices with "mA" around here :)).These babies need AMPERES. Albeit someone here made decent experiences with 2-3 Ampere delivering power supplies, I'd rather recommend to go somewhere between 6-8 Amps.In case you have enough free-time, you may want to check the archive for my "powering"-experiments.In case not:I had 2 PC power supplies, one which claimed to deliver 6-8 Amperes, and one (quality) PS which did..Trying the first one, I got constantly "low-power" warnings from my Vo-8800 in case the VTR was doing *anything* despite standing-by...The odd thing I watched, that , even though it should be satisfied with 12V , it already started whining, when the Voltage dropped below 11.6 Volts. (Though it relied most likely on the amperes).
According to Matt, who's got plenty of experience with Umatic gear, you can go as high as 13.6Volts (if I recall correctly - check the archive).Since you've got a VO-6800, you'll be most likely be facing a 4-Pin plastic DIN socket. I think the 2 outermost are carrying GND & +12V - I might post some precise information later this day, in case you didn't find anything on the net.
Hope this helps.
Forgot to mention the noisyness in the picture you'll get when using cheap (low-power) power-supplies. - But do not exagerate it (especially with the voltage), you may smoke the machine easily..
hi
Hello all,
I'm looking to purchase a U-Matic player, so if you want to sell let me know. The specific model I had in mind is the VO5630.
Many thanks
richard.
Hi I am the archivist at the British Columbia Teachers' Federation in Vancouver, B.C. We have a number of u-matic tapes in 3/4 and S formats that I can't even look at to decide whether or not the content is useful to us from a historical perspective.
So here are a few questions: 1) Do I need two different viewers to look at these two formats (I'm obviously not a technie)?; 2) Where can I get a viewer(s) to do so, either to borrow or to purchase? 3) what are people's opinions about transferring useable material onto DVD? and 4) which DVD is preferred?
Thanks for any help you can give.
The small tapes are used in portable machines but fit into (almost) all mains machines without an adaptor.
What you WILL probably need is a machine that can cope with lowband and highband tapes. ....unless you know which you have. There is a fair bit of information on the main site.
A good machine for Lo/High-band and SP is the VO-9800 or the VO-9850.I can't come up with a reason why you can't or shouldn't transfer U-matic(SP) material to DVD. The picture quality of original U-matic material is often better than people expected and certainly good enough to transfer to DVD. The sound quality is close to the sound quality of an open reel audio tape deck running at 9.5 cm/sec. It isn't VHS hifi sound but it is better than audio cassette and VHS lineair sound.
Has anyone got a service manual for the sony m7 camera??? I am trying to get the cable diagram for the 26 to 14 pin cable to let me use the camera with a m3ccu....I am also looking for a damaged cable that has usable plugs so I can make some adaptor leads!.Steve
For Sale: Sony VO-5800PS machine and I guess 20 or so tapes (All Sony 60's I think). With Sony instruction manual too. Buyer has to collect or pay postage Which WILL be a lot these are heavy beasties. I'm in Harlow, Essex, ENGLAND.
It has not been used for a few years (4) and I've no idea if the parts 'go off' (read belts stretch) so it's sold as seen, All I can tell you is last time it was used it was working fine.
So why am I selling, a general need to clear out junk, a need to clear the living room as I'm getting married we want to redecorate and the fact it's not been used for so long I'm unlikely to use it so someone might as well use it.
Make me an offer and remember you have to collect or include postage (According to this site it's 24KG plus the tapes). If I don't get anything by the end of Feb it's going to the tip, (which would be a shame but it has to go..)
that Umatic..
Will do a swap for a DVD player (needs to be multiregional)
Okay, will someone please tell me where I can go to get a decent U-matic editing deck for a decent price (under $500!) I am tired of wretched ebay and yahoo! auctions.. I just want to be able to edit video! I used to own a umatic vo-1600,I have a Betamax deck and a Samsung VHS, so it will be my first "professional" umatic deck; I wanted it to be a good one with TC,jog wheel and LED readout so I can edit with frame accuracy.
We have about 6 Sony VO-8800P portable recorders for sale priced at £150.00 plus VAT each, if anyone is interested let me know.Steve

Ladies and gentleman, this is a great U-matic site great job! Thank you.
I just purchased a nearly brand new VO-5800 eBays price was hard to resist. I needed it for submitting reels with out breaking the bank. Never the less, there is a small problem and what better place to ask a question!
The audio recording through the RCA and Microphone inputs prints at low volume and distorted. While monitoring, the audio sounds normaleven with its harsh limiter. The VO5800 flawlessly Plays back of other tapesindeed, it does beat VHS.
Either the audio recording head is out of alignment or busted, or the audio board has problems. Before venturing into a local NYC repair shop, I wanted to drop a line to a more seasoned group. Has anyone had a similar experience with these symptoms? I would welcome an expert insight, and anyones cheers to a new U-matic user.
Thanks again, for such informative a well-maintained site.

had to withdraw the deck but there are still the LD player, tapes and the mobile...
i would like to build a chat page on my web site how would i go about doing this?
Hello again. Thanks to those who e-mailed me about my jammed toploader. Having taken it to pieces, the fault was a small latch in the bottom left corner sticking, only accessable by 'ripping' it to bits (teeny little exageration). I tried to record suff onto my VO-1810, but the picture was dreadful. I think I need a new drum, and I hate to think what that would cost. Any offers? <tried cleaning it with alcohol stuff>. I don't use it much, only as a messaround-hobby. Having already recived an email asking how I got a video signal picture out of a Sony AVC3250ce, if you too want to use one as 'the largest webcam in the west', drop me a call. I have changed my e-mail address to the above.for info about the following: Sony VO-1810UK, Sony AVC3250ce, JVC BY110, Ferrograph 5A, BSR/Coomber tape recorder, Telequiptment Servisope ossiliscope, e-mail me.I am also hoping to start a website.
I can track down lowband U-matic tapes, but where can I find a good second hand source of equipment. (Portable recorders, cameras, edit suites. Cables and batteries would also be useful.)Near Glasgow if possible. What is the spares situation for most of the available U-matic kit?
I have two Sony VO-5800H U-matic recorders. The "H" version uses a larger style u-matic cassette. I've been told that these machines are for black & white use, but I can record in color. the problem is that the color drifts in and out. I get color in bursts of one or two seconds. Is there any way to fix this problem, or are these truly "B&W only" machines? Also, I'd like to locate a manual for these units. Any help will be appreciated. CJP
Thomas.
Try running the machine for a few days with good tapes. Just put it on play. Sometimes the heads are dirty because of lack of use.
hiI am looking for software for the cel maurice touchscreen controller p152my 5.25" disk is gone to diskyheaven(and i wasn't able to create a working copy for some reason)Also does anyone know what kinda serial this system uses ??thanks a lot and greetingz
Anybody knows where to find internal adjustment info for a NEC Umatic VCR type PVC7411? It looks like one of the old Sony's horizontal machines; so not the type where you insert the tape in an automatic slot.
Hi, has anyone got a dead/non repairable vtr with a 26 pin camera connector on it?? I need to make a camera test box.Steve.
Hello everyone, I have a VO-5020 for sale if anyone is interested please e-mail me and I'll give you the info.. I wont breake the bank.
Where in the UK can I source Hi Band U-Matictapes at a reasonable price.
Help, I need manuals for use with the old 5800 u-matic low band editing suites. if anyone can help please contact. Have digital editing deck and up/dpwn load from Panasonic video player/recorder. Thanks.
Hi,I am searching for a U-Matic deck capable of recording PAL, PAL-N and PAL-M.Any ideas ?Thank you for your feedback,Jean-Francois
Wouldn't it be really nice if there was a U-matic museum preferably in the UK. Perhaps in 10-20 years there might be.
Were there many very early models based on the original design (VO1### ?); toploaders? Are there many people out there keeping oldie machines for nostalga? ie. my VO-1810. I wonder if there shall be a U-matic preservation movement? If any oldies are lurking about a scrapheap (or otherwise) near you, I love to collect stuff like that... But larger machines had better wait until I have a place of my own; my VO-1810 fills desk space in my bedroom.
I don't know much about U-Matics yet...1. What equipment do I need to play a small cassette in a player/recorder that uses large cassettes?2.Does anyone know if any companies produse new U-Matic decks?3.Does the BVU-150 only use small cassettes like many portables?
Hi,anyone interested in buying a JVC KY-210 and a sony VO800PS with a few tapes as well,e-mail me to make offers as i wont be checking this board, thanks, neil.
Anyone interested in buying a JVC KY210+SONY VO800PS,please e-mail me,neil.
I've been looking at the specifications for the VO9600 - it meantioned Lo-band resolution - can this machine record Lo-Band as well as Hi/SP or is this just for playback only ?
Thanks, Keith.
I'm looking for a Hitachi SV-340 (same of Panasonic NV-9400 or JVC CR-4400) Service Manual, can anyone help me, please?
I work with a BVT-500P (linked to a 5850) which has just come back from servicing. The picture on my monitor now shows 2 stripes at the bottom featuring parts of the top of the same frame. A colleague said is the framing. There's no adjustment to be made on the front panel to fix this and get the picture back to a full screen size. I wonder whether one of the control screws on the cards contained behind this same panel can do the trick since as always the manual is nowhere to be found (please note that on this TBC card slots 10 & 11 are empty).

I'm looking to buy a rather nice dxc3000 camera, it comes with a u-matic bvu recorder.I love the picture quality of the camera, but had some questions regarding the editing process. I've been using 8mm/hi8/digital8 formats with a digital camera plugged into a firewire card in my computer. The program I use is adobe premiere, I'm new to u-matic and have never worked with it before. Can anyone give me any tips, anecdotes, problems, or any help with the use of u-matic recorders, and the dxc cameras. Also, what is the best way to edit this format, can I use a media converter and covert the signal to digital for my firewire card. Is there a 8mm/hi8 porta pack available for dxc? If anyone can help out It would be much appreciated. Thanks to everyone who helps, and to this site for the great resource.-peace
Hello! I was just wondering, what exactly is an Error 4 and 99? I have seen umatics on ebay that refuse to give up the tape but flash Error 99 or Error 4. Is there a page I can go to to see all the possible umatic errors or will someone please list them? Also, what is the PROGRAMMED OPERATION switch on the VP-5020 for? Is there a Mark In/Out switch to tell the unit where to loop? Or do i need two decks for that?
-You can't shop smarter than Wards!-
I have a BVU-800, I was using it today and noticed that the I lost audio on channel 1. The meter on the front is not bouncing, and no audio is coming out of the XLRs on the back. I checked and double checked the tapes and even in a different deck. The tape has been ruled out. Does anyone have any ideas??? Is there a quick fix or am I SOL.
Thanks for your time.
Dustin
Some DXC3000 camera's output Y/C. Y/C gives you roughly an extra 50 lines of horizontal resolution. I think the DXC3000 AP is the Y/C model. A VO8800 has an Y/C input. I don't know anything about otherportapacks. Some digital8 camcorders are able to be used as an analog tofirewire convertor. If your digital8 camcorder doesn't have an analog inputyou need a computer card that converts analog to firewire. The picture quality of the DXC3000 camera should be equal or better than the digital8 consumer camcorder. A disadvantage is the low sensitivity of the DXC3000. You need a lot of light for a good picture. And because it is an old camera it maybe in need of a re-alignment. If you can't find anybody who is able to do the re-alignment at a professional level, or you can't or don't want to spend too much, leave the camera as it is. Re-aligning camera's is a job for skilled technicians.
Hi all.
I've just been given a Sony VO-5850P deck, which is working perfectly, except that the lampbehind one of the audio level meters has blown. I have attempted without success to remove the front panel to try to gain access to the meter to replace the bulb, so I wondered ifanyone knows why the front panel won't come off easily, and what I have to do to get it off?
The top panel comes off no problem (4 screws), likewise the two side panels (4 screws each). I then remove the four screws holding the front panel, but there is something roughlyin the middle, under the tape slot, stopping the panel coming away. I don't want to force itbecause it is plastic and looks easy to break.
Can anyone help?
Many thanks in advance!
Tim.
i'm trying to find out the cost of a couple of umatic players/recorders, namely SONY VP5030 and SONY VP7030, and also where i can get hold of them. if anyone can help it would be most appreciated.
Tim, Don't look a gift horse in the mouth. All the years I worked with U-matic, I can never remember a machine where all the meter lamps were working at any one time. Just as a matter of interest, see how the bidding is going on a similar machine at ebay. You may be pleasantly surprised. This is the address http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1335690007
Does anyone know anything about the 8 pin TV socket that can be found on the back of (old) u-matics ie VO1810 ? I poked wires into it and discovered video connections and audio links..
Thomas. The clue is in the question. As the machine does not have on board tv tuner, the socket is provided to enable composite line in from a tv source - usually from a similar connector on a Sony receiver/ monitor. There should be a switch on the vcr ( left side near the power switch) where you can select the line input from either the bnc input (phono for audio),the tv socket or the dub socket (when fitted). As the tv socket is only 8 pin there is one pair for each video in, one channel audio in, video out and one channel audio out. Of course , if all of this sounds complicated, remember that these machines date back to the days when we sent men up to the moon and eng. crews comprised twenty persons with muscles like Hercules.
We are a production company who are searching for a cardboard-type box that packages U-Matics instead of the traditional plastic boxes. We received one of these boxes from another company, but they no longer use it. We have searched HIGH and LOW for these boxes. We do not want a "mailer" which mails the U-Matic in a plastic box. We want to use the box as a case for the U-Matic. If anyone has ANY idea of where to get these such boxes, it would be a great deal of help. We have tried Polyline already. Thank you in advance for any help.
Hi eveyone,I having played about with amateur VHS for a number of years I have decided to go umatic. Having sold some still equipment, rather than do the sensible thing and bank the money, I have bought a 5850 Low band and am about to acquire An RM 440 edit controller. Will the 440 only work in conjunction with 5850-5850 or 5800, or can it be used in condjuction with any other models. Also Anyone had any experiences with JVC PR8800 Highbands.
Cheers
Setve
Steve, if you are going to buy a 440 make sure that you get the cables as these are unique to Sony and they are as scarce as Rocking Horse doings. The ports are parallel on the 5 series so you can only control these machines. BVU U-matics have parallel and serial ports but the parallel ports are centronics and the type 5 plugs won't fit.
Sorry Folks another newbie question Which is the best type of tape to use on a low band machine [5850] I appreciate highband machine use metal tapes but are there different grades of tape for lowbanders. the info on this site for 5850 states
Picture search at 10 times is possible with the RM-440 when the KCS type tape is used.Is this correct are these not small tapes. Finally anyone of a good source for tapes other than ebay ?
Cheers
Steve

Can anyone surgest how I can input composite video into it please? The audio side is fine. Nice pic (Yes yes yes... Umatic is miles better(thought I can't see myself with more than my VO 1810UK.... yes yes Umatic rules)). Qs about BR411s welcome

I just got my VP-5020. Whenever I play back tapes recorded on a VO-1600, the dark scenes play somewhat OK, but play as if it is a 4th generation dub. Whenever there's a bright instance, the picture completely breaks up, for example, if it's a shot of a candle in a dark room, the candle will be smeared all the way to the right, and a lot of noise will appear. Some video looks like the deck needs new heads, but I don't know. I cleaned the deck, and nothing changed. How do I determine the number of hours this thing has? I've seen some pix on ebay where the seller is holding down the counter RESET button and the hours appear. I just hope my vp-5020 isnt junk. Maybe it is the tapes? I have some really old tapes, but the ones the VO-1600 recorded were KSP-20s. They went through the machine at least 20 times, maybe that is the problem? Someone please help!
Vendo en perfecto estado y con cinco cintas el VIDEO U-matic VO-5630
I've got a REALLY OLD piece of MEMOREX EQUIPMENT. I NEED some help identifying it and what its function is. It's early electronics for sure. There is no date but does have serial number, and model number. I've also taken quite a few photos that will enable me email them to anyone whose interested. Museum quality. I believe it's some type of testing equipment. Actually sits in a portable metal carrying case. Extremely heavy 50+ pounds. Pass it on to your friends and colleagues.Don't hesitate to email me directly. I just found this board by surfing. Not sure I could find it again. Thanks for your time. Virgil

Hi All,I am looking for camera cables, over 10 metres long with a power circuit and at least 2 video cables. Cables from older cameras like the JVC KY1900/2000/2700 are ideal, it does not matter what plugs they have. Please mail me if you have any for sale. Steve
im wondering if anyone could give me some comparisons on the lo-band umatic format against betamax, betacam, VHS, SVHS, DVCAM and umatic sp in regards to picture and sound quality?
Hi! I bought an editing controller JVC RM-88U. I would like to know what is power requirement for this unit? Where could I find a pin description of plugs? I am interested to use this unit with Betamax VCRs. I appreciate an U-matic format but it seems to me that it is very hard to find U-matic machines in my country and it might be even harder to find U-matic tapes.
