I got a betmax player but it does not play the betacam tapes i have. the betacam tapes seem to run very fast on the counter, I am asuming that the speed in which the betacam tapes were recorded at was very faster then what the player plays at.

I AM LOOKING FOR: A PAKLok PAGCLIP 90 battery cradle. A friend gave me his old BVW507 Beta SP camcorder, just the bare unit without any accessories. I've bought a used PAG Master 90 battery for it, decent, holds a charge... but of course pre-dating the PAGLok system so doesn't fix to the back of the camera!

PAG do a cradle named 'PAGLok PAGCLIP 90' to sit them in but it's quite expensive (worth more than the camera probably!) Has anyone got one they've stripped off a wreck that they would part with at a reasonable price. It needs to fit the back of a BVV5 VTR.

I am a regular on the other pages, particularly V2000. I have just bought a lovely Umatic Sony 9800P, and am looking for a reasonable Betacam, but know little about the system. I am learning fast though, however ebay seems so expensive and, as usual, a risk. I am trying to get a full set of formats, now I have a Sony HiFi Betamax and two Bang and Olufsen V2000s.

I would be extremely grateful if anybody could point me in the direction of most reliable of the betacam machines.I gather there is SX and SP, will most machines play both types, if not, which machines should I look out for that do. Is there a machine to avoid (awkward to use or unreliable)?

What kind of hours on the drum etc should I be looking for (I guess as low as possible!) but what is deemed excessive. And finally what is a reasonable second hand price for the good machines that you know of.

HiI have purchased a Sony UVW-100 from a London Auction house. The unit appears complete with lens, microphone, tripod plate and flight case. However there is no manual. I have had to buy a battery and charger for the machine but having fitted the battery I was hoping to establish how much use the camera has had (hours?). can anybody advise how I obtain this information. Hi, I have just bought a Sony BVW 70P. It powers up but will only play tapes in black and white (The tape is pre-recorded and plays back in colour on my BVW 65P ). I recorded some colour bars on the BVW 70 and they play back in colour on the BVW 65 (picture is unsteady though, probably because I only used a cheap signal generator). Question.

I shot some vision recently with Oxide stock in an Oxide back (BVV1P) & then shot some vision using Oxide stock in a Betacam SP back (BVV5PS). The vision on playback from the Oxide tape (From BVV1P) looked superior - in sharpness & noise, in comparison to the vision that I'd recorded with Oxide tape in the (BVV5PS). To my knowledge all BVW series Betacam SP VTR's & dockable recorders can record oxide, but I expected the picture to be exactly the same not worse! Has anyone got any thoughts on this?????

I have a minor problem with my BVW400 camera and wondered if anyone has experienced a similar fault.The HUMID warning is showing even when the camera has been in the house for days, occasionally the camera will work but 70% of the time it won't.Does anyone know what the resistance of the dew sensor should be for normal operation?Any comments will be greatly appreciated.

i was wondering if any of u might be able to give me any reasons why i would get a led that switches from green to yellow and then back again to green everynow and then when recording on a sony digital betacam dvw-500??? its weird because when i decide to test the recording some vtrs show the leds switch from green to yellow and back to green like in the recording and some vtrs dont show anything wrong with the recording....

Cheap Betacam SP PAL player required in the UK.

I now have a better idea what I need, specifically:Must be able to play SPMust have Y-C (S-Video) or RGB or Component output; Y-C (S-video) is preferred.Preferably able to play larger cassettes.

My first choice would be a UVW-1200, but this is likely to be out of my "few hundred pounds" budget. Next would be the BVW-60, and I would have to figure a way to turn Component Video into S-Video. Also considered would be the small-tape BVW-10 and BVW-15 provided they have the SP modification installed. The BVW-22 is useless, even with SP.

I also have to trade in, a Sony EVS-9000E Hi8 semi-pro edit deck, remote, cables, instructions, complete in original box.

Connectivity on BVW-22P?

I'm looking for a cheap (sub £ 200 ) PAL Betacam SP player. I've been looking at the BVW-22P since these turn up for around the right price, but I'm concerned about the connections on this one. There's Composite Video (not much use really) and a "Monitor" connector which I don't recognise. Can anyone definitively tell me what is in this connector? I need RGB or preferably S-Video.

If the BVW-22P won't do it, suggestions please for the next cheapest possible model.

I need some urgent advice on the Beta recorder.I havea BVW75P. We use an analogue to digital converter withcomponent in/out(DAC 2)for inputting Beta signal tothe Apple Computer.But many use a capture card forthat purpuse.Does using a capture card has anyadvantage over using the converter? If so can yousuggest a good capture card for our Apple G4system,with the probable price and the place fromwhich we can buy that? Hi there - I also have a UVW1400 and with regards RS422/232 what you'll need is a converter box (basically a little dongle with a UVW1400 remote plug at one end and the 9-pin serial from the PC at the other. A company named Rosetta Stone manufacture these and most video dealerships should be able to get hold of one (we paid £ 200 for ours, but I think we were ripped off). Why Sony manufactured the 1400 with an odd remote connector when all their other decks have a normal 9-pin serial socket hell knows!!

BTW - I'm not sure if it's possible with a Media 100 but I believe you can get an RS422 PCI board (like the ones additional parallel printer sockets used to come one) that might let you use a standard computer lead without a dongle.

I have a problem with my uvw-100p betaSP camcorder. It has pink stripes running vertically on the video, both in viewfinder and video out to monitor. Bars and and previously recorded tapes are ok (in vf), so the fault must be in the camera head? Any viewfinder information is ok also.

"warning" light isn t flashing, though. What could be the problem?
