Firstly, thanks to everybody who helped me with last post.I even received on loan a betacam bvw35 service manual.Very appreciated.I have now found the fault or at least found the board thats causing the following problem.In playback all is ok.Record is a diff matter, Having pulled at connectors and prodded pots on the SERVO pcb, I got this to finally come out of Pause into record with a perfect picture. However after 10mins the machine went back into fault and the tape rolled foward an inch then stopped(pause light on and flashing rapidly) and so on.Has anyone a spare SV94 servo pcb for this bvw35p betacam or know where I can get it?Or if someone knows this fault, what do I replace on the board to put it right.Any help appreciated.. I am having trouble with a DXC537A BetaCam. The problem is that if I try and save my white balance info to a preset, it does not retain the data if the switch is moved from one preset to another. I have changed out the back up battery and even changed out the AT-78 circuit board with no luck. If anyone has had this problem I would appreciate any information you could give. Thanks

DNW BETA SXDoes anyone know how to format the internal hard discs on a betacam sx system? The machine wont 'initialise' them until they have been formatted but this has to be done externally (probably at the Sony factory). They are hv differntial 68pin scsi, x2 9gb. The drives are newly replaced but not with sony supplied parts. Anyone been down this route or even fitted higher capacity drives?

I have a BVW35P portalbe betacam.It plays perfectly any SP tapes.I dont have the matching camera to go with it,just the dedicated powersupply.I tried to record but cant get it to come out of pause. In Rec mode the tape rolls foward an inch approx but rolls back,sounds like a relay or something clicking.Do I need to "trick" the machine by shorting some pins on the camera socket to enable the Video In to work in record. Is this a fault possibly.Also what is the SC IN socket for?

I dont have a manual for this so any help would be well appreciated.

Hi All - I've recently had a BVW-507 Beta SP camcorder (BVP-7P head) given to me by a local cameraman ("All Digi these days... been knocking around my garage for years") I've replaced half the parts and it's good as new bar a lens. I assumed it took a standard B4 mount lens as the guy used the lens off this camera on his newer Digibeta - but I've looked in the service manual and it specifies 'special bayonet' is there some kind of lens adapter I'd be missing or will a 2/3" B4 lens be fine as it comes?

Hi. I have a BVW-70 and am trying to sync a DA88 to it via the LTC output. My DA88 for this project will only accept 29.97df. I set the sync card to DF, but the da88 is still giving me a timecode error. Is there a way to set the frame rate for the LTC output of the BVW-70? it must be spitting the wrong frame rate?

I've used the above mentioned equipment for TV programmes, commercials, corporate videos and more without any problems. Editing 15 episodes of 45mins TV drama in 2 months is a breeze with Incite. I am willing to sell the equipment individually. As for the SONY UVW1800P, I'm selling it for SGD$ 8000 or AUD$7000. As for the rest of the items, please quote me a good price. Thank you.

I'm working with a newer beta deck and an older one, digitally capturing betacam video for use on an inside corporate entertainment biz website (has to be very high quality/resolution, obviously) through Final Cut Pro. The newer deck has an S-video output which I can feed directly into either a dvcam deck or prosumer camera with S-video inputs and firewire outs, but the older deck only has composite and component video outputs, and the quality of course is terrible from the composite inputs on the deck or camera. I know this is a newbie question, but could someone please tell me what the cheapest decent quality solution is to translate the signal from the older deck's component output into something my Mac can interpret, either through one of the dvcam deck/dv camera's s-video inputs or through some other device/format? I know there are encoding boxes out there that would do the trick, but are there cheaper or better methods? Would buying an $170 encoding box be getting ripped off? Thanks for any help you can offer, including pointers to other resources.

Not strictly Betacam but if any one is having problems with the earphone socket on Sony DSR500 it may be worth trying the following. Remove the lttle plastic cover at the back of the carrying handle, 1 small philips screw, unscrew the ring around the headphone socket and carefully remove the PCB with the socket on it from the handle. Use a fine file or emery board to clean up the area inside the handle where the socket makes contact and also the corresponding area on the socket, then reasemble. I found that this cured intermittent H/P problems on my camera. It appears that the handle and the socket are of two different metals and after awhile a very slight corrosion can build up causing intermiitent contact. To make doubly shure, on mine I also soldered a short piece of wire to the socket body and grounded it on an adjacent handle retaining screw.
