DSR500WS? - Unusual exchange!

We currently use a DSR500WS which we are looking to exchange for a DSR300/370 or 390.

While the 500 is a superb camera,it's become too heavy for my camera operator to use "off tripod", I would rather get a new camera op but as I've been married to this one for 19 years, that's a bit difficult.

We have a DSR500WS, 5 years old with 574 hours on the heads, it's fitted with an Angenieux 15x8.3 Internal focus lens with 2x doubler (lens was over 8k new).

There's a full Portabrace cover, 4 PAG 13.2v batteries with PAG X4 charger, a PAG single charger, a "Probag" for the camera and original instruction manual (I'll even throw in the furry on the mic).

So if you're looking to upgrade your DSR300/390 to a 2/3" camera this could be an ideal opportunity.

We're looking for a camera with battery system/charger and some cash, but We do NOT want a PD150/170, VX2000/2100, XL1, Panny 200 or JVC500/5000, so don't ask!

Based on recent dealer ad's we value the camera at around 5.5k (not including the batteries and charger) and the lens at around 2.5k, both plus VAT.

We are based in Gloucestershire and have footage shot last Friday with the 500 that can be viewed for quality etc.

I have a Sony SL-5000 with problems in the drum speed, I check the small electrolytics around the Drum Servo Chip C3 but I’m not sure if the c58 and c44 was replaced some time and have wrong values, if you know what are the correct values of this caps please tell me, also is very difficult adjust by eye the RV9 Drum Free control if you know what are the test point for this please tell me. Hello, just wondering if anyone knows how to look at the RAW error rates on a digibeta, as opposed to just an green, amber or red indication. I dont mean the rf menu that shows the level/eq of the individual heads but a way of seeing the error blips perhaps on a scope.

I'm in need of someone's expert advice, here's my problem, I'm dealing with a BVW75 that has a very pecular problem, the whites and very bright areas are smearing,creating a very soft picture. At first I thought it was maybe the high freq. balance, but it's not exactly streaking or tearing as is common with freq. balance problems. Like I said if just soft smearing towards the right. I've also cleaned the brushes and slip ring. Last week I called Sony for some advice, I explained the same to them and I was advised to replace the heads/upper drum assyembly. I did, when through all the adjustments and alignments, and I'm still having the same problem, no improvement. Please help somebody.

hello - I have a Sony BVW-15 DT machine that has developed a problem. The picture is vertically shifted half way down the screen and is unstable. I have isolated the problem to board level - it is the CK board (large size board on left of pcb bay), but have no circuits to work from to isolate to component level. Has anyone else come across this fault? Is it perhaps one of Sonys famous electrolytic capacitors once more? Any help or advice appreciated. Hi, I'm trying to get windoze media encoder to talk to a SONY UVW-1200P (PAL) SP Betacam player. The player uses a 25 pin RS232 for machine control, unlike newer SP Betacams, which use RS422. Does anyone know the RS232 pinouts for this machine? I need to connect a cable to it which uses a 9-pin serial from the computer to 25 pin. The usual "null modem" RS232 cable doesn't work. It must be a Sony thing.

If anyone is interested I have managed to get Windoze Media Encoder RS422 to work with a PVW2600 SPBetacam and the DSR45P & DSR1500P RS422. This was done without an interface, just soldering up the right 9-pin cable pinouts and changing the serial port parameters. I can supply the pinouts & parameters if anyone wants them.

Any solution for(1) frequent white flash lines in the TV monitor,even when cassettes are not loaded in BVW75P Beta Recorder;(2) picture appearing black & white & shaky before stabilising to give colour pictures when we press the play button ;(3) an overdose of red colour with a little video noise;(4)Pervading electric current(sensitive to the electric tester)on all the out pins at the back & at the inside of the recorder(Is it by any chance normal?)&(5) video level control not responding for manual operation? I recently bought two CVR-10 (BVW-10) betacam player, the both units work very fine in video, BUT the playback is very very low, the VU meters works okay, at 1khz trailer on pre recorded cassette, but the audio is very very low, and the TWO machines have the same problem, I tryed to connect the audio out at pin #2 or #3 of XLR output (pin 1 is gnd) and no more audio (very low), and the two machines are not from the same place, same guy, but not come from the same studio, I dont know whats happens with this, I dont have any manual for these VCP, but the same problem on the two machines ???, i believe I make anything wrong, but WHAT!, I have a BVW-20 portable, and the audio XLR are connected pin 1 gnd, and pin 2 or 3 at audio out, and all okay, but when I connect the cvr-10 the two machines have low audio (around -20db)...

If anyone of You have a tips for Me, let me know, this will be very very appreciated, really!!!...

Even signal from the system through the recorder(without the tape) is murky.A person whom I have consulted over phone told me that it may be the problem with the video board.How much it would normally cost to replace it?Is this board still available with dealers?
