Hi I have a BetacamSP Cassette Recorder UVW-1800P, And a video editing job job to be done asap. I forwarded the master tape in the player and it came up with error 02-694 after making a horrible spooling sound. I can't eject it, play it or anything else. Does anybody know if there is anything I can do without pulling the damned thing apart.many thanks if you can help

hee hee, yes. i think it'll be like a "P" at the end of the model number, example: BVU-123P feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. the NTSC will be a plain number without the P: BVU-123

Can anyone assist with providing information how to put together a simple, Betacam SP editing setup, in PAL format., ( maybe around a BVW 75 & BVW 65 ) ?Though I have years of experience with audio broadcasting electronics, I know nothing about video.

A bit of surfing revealed that there is a number of such used machines available, is there an easy way to know if they are PAL or NTSC from the Model designation ?

3xBNC to 26-pin conversion

Hello all,

I am trying to determine if I can send YUV input into a Sony Betacam SP BVW-35P deck. I would like to record the output from a BlackMagic DeckLink SP card (which is analog YUV, 3xBNC) into the 35P. However, the Sony machine only has 26-pin camera input.

There are 26-pin to 3xBNC cables available, but I see this reference to the SOny CCZ-RGB cable. Is the 26-pin signal only RGB? Must I do a YUV -> RGB conversion first?

Or do I just need to record into a different (more expensive!) deck.

I am relatively new to the Betacam world.

I am an audio drama author and know next to nothing about Betacams. Two men spend several weeks in the Amazonian Jungle (100% humidity) to record--is that possible? Would Betacam be too heavy, unwieldy? They are travelling by native two-man canoe, no source of electricuty to recharge the battery packs. Possible? How can they view the tapes (20 minutes, half-inch, is that correct?), through viewfinder? Need separate viewer? How many battery packs would they need to record, say, six tapes, over three weeks?

Can anyone supply me with the details, please? Thank you.

Hi Everyone,

I have a rather aged BVW 200P that has developed intermittent roll on the viewfinder. I am new to Betacam and am waiting for a playback adapter so I can't check composite outputso it could be on that as well. I keep on hearing about capacitor leakage - does anyone recognise this fault and how difficult if that is the problem to replace the caps (is it all of the caps in the cam or just specific ones?

I would appreciate very much any advice on this.
