Current Beta Machines: Sanyo Betacord VCR 4500

Greetings from the Philippines!

Though the current trend here in Manila is the VCD and DVD, I can still say that my Sanyo Betacord ca. 1984 works still 'very good.' It was a gift for me that year, and is quite sentimental in value for me. I can say that since I took care of it quite well (and in spite of the absence of Beta format tapes in the Philippines today), it still functions darn well vis-a-vis those VCD players, of which I've been receiving feedbacks from friends who own such that they easily break down--blame it, perhaps, on the proliferation of fake VCDiscs or the fact that they don't make things as good as before. This is in addition to my VHS player, made this time by Samsung which I still use. Some of my Beta tapes include "Reality Bites," "Jurassic Park" and "Forrest Gump" which I still view from time to time, and ta collection for a Gen-Xer like me.

Who knows, with the fetish for going 'retro', betamax may come back again! Thanks for such a site. Beta owners, you're one with me!
